024. - Someone's got a birthday today.

How do birthdays work on the Barge? Do we get older, or do we stay frozen in time from the moment we were picked up?

[SLADE I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF INTROSPECTION, IT IS MY BIRTHDAY, DO NOT MAKE ME HURT YOU.

He goes to the door anyway. Opening door. Staring now. Because this is how they communicate.]

[YOU COULDN'T HURT HIM IF YOU TRIED but even if you did he'd HEAL.

He stares right back, as if he's deciding something. And then:]

We're celebrating.

[No, you do not get a choice in the matter, Jason.]

[Fuck yo' couch mutant healing factor! And suddenly there is regret for the return of powers, damn you, decent human beingery.]

We are?

[His very own birthday party. Maybe there will be cake. And a piñata. An Admiral-shaped piñata. Or perhaps just a fuckton of alcohol. 'S all good.]

[Slade will never give him a reason to regret it. That he knows of.]

Yes.

[With said fuckton of alcohol to conquer the brooding. At the bar. He should bring his friends.]

[He's got his eye on you, Slade. HIS EEEEEEEYE.]

Okay.

[YOU SEE NOTHING.]

The bar.

[Suggested as though it's the most natural thing in the world. WHERE ELSE WOULD TWO BACHELORS GO ON SUCH AN OCCASION? ...or you know, Claire could always make beer cake.]

[Like Sting, he'll be watching you. Every breath you take. Every move you make. Every bond you break. Every claim you stake. He'll be watching you.]

Right.

[Yeah, well...if there is ever a time for drinking? Today is a time for drinking. Because it's his birthday dammit. Just don't make him do shots, that would end well.

Beer cake!]

[...Damn it, stealing his toon!self's theme song. :|]

Sounds good.

[But Jason. Shots are fun. Also, both of them getting drunk will be hilarious.

DAMN RIGHT BEER CAKE.]

Assume, or spam it out? I'm hella-behind on my shit because of last week being hell; could spam it.

Assuming is fine. We've still got that other spam to do so it's cool. c:

Is it your birthday?

Private - Because he obscures insignificant personal details from the populace at large.

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Allegedly.

If time's normal here, I'm thirty-six today.

Private - Works for her.

[identity profile] some-kinda-hero.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, Jason, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We have to celebrate, what do you want to do? What do you like, I'll bake you something in the Easy-Bake Oven.

[Already she's moving about her room, setting it up.]

Private - She will have to learn to live with his paranoia.

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

[He chuckles a little.] An Easy-Bake Oven?

Surprise me.

Private - Psssh, we got it.

[identity profile] some-kinda-hero.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, didn't you have one as a kid? Okay, you're a boy, but still, they were huge in late 80s, early 90s. You don't have allergies, right?

Private - In my headcanon he totally had an NES in high school and it was the coolest thing ever

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Allergy-free.

[Watch as he carefully avoids talking about his childhood.]

Private - rotf, and summary

[identity profile] some-kinda-hero.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Perfect, I'll be over in...probably an hour.

[She made cupcakes that spelled his name and were chocochocochip! And they were merry, the end.]

FUCK YES CUPCAKES

[identity profile] failedcreator.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
We are dead. One would presume that we thus did not age.

[identity profile] failedcreator.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Then you must age, is it not so?

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
That's usually how things work, but this is an unusual place.

[identity profile] failedcreator.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
My conclusion is logical, and surely correct.

Ha ha ha oh wow he still believes in logic here.

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
'Logical' and 'the Barge' are two terms that don't usually mix well.

He believes in his insane logic. :D

[identity profile] failedcreator.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
They can and do. One must simply look closer. For example, in the future the wardens may be disadvantaged by the fact that they are aging and the inmates are not.
empirical_data: (staring 2)

Oh, Victor. How your warden wishes for a facepalm icon sometimes.

[personal profile] empirical_data 2010-09-14 08:26 am (UTC)(link)

Victor's science is awesome. You know it to be true. XD

[identity profile] failedcreator.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 10:23 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Given the high turnover rate here, it's more likely that wardens who can no longer do their jobs will be replaced - if we stay here long enough to get old.

[identity profile] failedcreator.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It is likely that wardens will be replaced? When does this occur?

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
By 'replaced', I meant that some wardens leave and new ones come aboard. There's not going to be some mass reassignment. I hope

[identity profile] failedcreator.livejournal.com 2010-09-15 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
That is not troubling. My warden has stated that he would not leave. This is a great thing.

[identity profile] ichoosefight.livejournal.com 2010-09-14 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I say if you want it to be your birthday, throw a party! Who cares if it counts or not?

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Probably a good way of going about it.
