Luckily he had Claire. No matter how many enemies, ghosts, and assassins he had after him, she wouldn't go away; she wouldn't die. And it was for those reasons that she herself sometimes had issues with connecting, knowing some day she'd eventually lose everyone except her uncle and hunter (because Adam was already dead in her world, no thanks to her horrible grandfather).
