I feel like I should be celebrating today, but I don't have much to celebrate. Not as regards the United States, anyway.

There should be fireworks. There were always fireworks.

It's the Fourth of July. Every year, Americans celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the start of the successful revolution against the British, usually by setting off fireworks and grilling outdoors. So it's a holiday to celebrate the end of tyranny.
