032. - Video.

...well, that was entirely stupid.

[Private to David.]
Looks like I'm your new warden. Enjoy the Admiral's sense of humor.

[Private] XD

And what the hell is that supposed to mean?

[Private] No sugarcoating here!

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
You have to change whatever it is that got you sent here to leave. If you don't make progress or even try, then one day the Admiral's patience wears thin and you disappear right off the ship.

[Private] Too bad Bourne's elf buddy isn't around. He could give them sugar cookies. ;)

[That hits him hard. He remembers that guy he talked to, the Motorcycle Boy. The way he just vanished, and it was like he had never even existed.]

So, in other words, if the Admiral doesn't see someone playing his games he gets rid of them. [The hostility ebbs, but if anything, the look he's eyeing Bourne with now is even worse. He looks furtive, wary. It's a desperate, dangerous look.]

[Private] Haha oh shit the Admiral is Crayak

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Uh-oh. Looks like he struck a nerve. Still...no lying to your new inmate, Jason.]

Basically.

[But that reaction lets Bourne know that David doesn't like people playing games with him. Something we have in common.]

[Private] Gee, make him MORE paranoid. :P

[identity profile] sixthanimorph.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
[For once, he's caught with absolutely no smart remark.]

Right. I'll remember that.

[Which only means he's working with a time limit. Take out the Admiral before the Admiral takes him out. I can't afford to waste time.]

Anything else I should know?

[Private] This is a boat of paranoia.

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
[If Bourne were a bad person, or someone with a twisted sense of humor, he would say something innocuous yet sinister in context and let the kid stew. Fortunately for David, he is a better person than his mun. Besides, Bourne figures he's been shaken up enough already with only the basic facts about the place. He'll cut the kid some slack.

But he can guess what David's thinking, 'cause it's about what he would be thinking too. Cut off the snake's head and the body stops wriggling.]

If you're thinking about trying to find the Admiral, good luck. There've been riots in the past, people trying to find him and overthrow him. It never ends well for them.

[Private] No wonder he's fitting in so well.

[identity profile] sixthanimorph.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
[As before, Bourne's act of kindness goes completely unnoticed by David. He's too busy thinking of plans to flush the Admiral out. He has no idea how well Bourne already understands the way he thinks, so when he mentions finding the Admiral, David's head jerks up and a for a moment he looks stunned, caught off-guard.]

[Then the mask goes back up again.]

Yeah. He doesn't sound like the type who tolerates rebellion. And I bet you were right there doing his dirty work too.

[Private] YOUR WARDEN CAN READ YOUR MIND.

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Others' dirty work, yes; not the Admiral's. Like hell he's going to tell David, though. Reaction duly noted and logged.]

I don't have a pair of jackboots in my closet, if that's what you're implying.

[A pause. Then:]

Let me also mention that he's a fucking terrible pilot.

[Private] GET OUTTA MY HEEEEEAD.

[identity profile] sixthanimorph.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
[He doesn't crack a smile at Bourne's stab at a joke. Not even a hint of one.]

You still work for him.

[And that's the bottom line, as far as he's concerned. Bourne works for the Admiral, so Bourne must be the enemy. It's just that simple.]

[Private] NO.

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh come on, it was his first ever Nazi joke. He is learning.]

And you're still stuck here, so we're back where we started.

[Private] BLAAARGH

[identity profile] sixthanimorph.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
[If only he could say the same.]

Look, I'll tell you this once: stay away from me. I'm finding my way off this ship, no matter what it takes. The Admiral can play his games with someone else, and so can you. I'm not interested.

[Private] bluh bluh so late

[identity profile] brokenweapon.livejournal.com 2011-04-20 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Shrug.]

Fine.

[Better to learn by failure than be coddled, is Bourne's reasoning.]

[Private] Better late than never!

[identity profile] sixthanimorph.livejournal.com 2011-04-20 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
[And with that, he cuts the connection. There's nothing else to say.]

[Having a bitchy teen inmate is the best thing ever.]
